Some residents of Oyo on Tuesday joined their counterparts in other states to stage the 1st October protest against bad governance.

The protest tagged “EndBadGovernance“, according to the organisers, was aimed at protesting the widespread social and economic challenges facing the citizens.

DAILY POST reports that the protesters gathered at Mokola roundabout in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital to demonstrate.

The state coordinator of the Take It Back Movement, Solomon Emiola, addressing the government during the protest lamented the hardship being faced by citizens.

He stated that the 64th Independence anniversary is not worth celebrating considering the current state of the nation after 64 years of independence.

Emiola added that the hike in the price of petroleum and the current rate of Naira to Dollar, hike in electricity fees and hike in school fees must be reversed.

He added that this will help to ease the pain of Nigerians.

“We are here today in protest against hardship faced by Nigerians, we believe Independence is not worth celebrating considering the hardship faced by Nigerians.

“We hereby request for reversal on the hike price of petroleum, school fees of public universities, and electricity, while we also call on the government to find solutions to our refinery which has been abandoned by our government.”
