Panic As Gunmen Kill Vigilante Member In Rivers

Unknown gunmen have killed a member of a local vigilante group in Rivers State, ONELGA Security Planning and Advisory Committee, OSPAC.

Naija News reports that the tragic incident happened on Wednesday at Igwuruta Community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.

According to Vanguard, the victim, identified as Prince, a member of OSPAC, was ambushed and killed while responding to a distress call about the incident of kidnapping going on in the area.

Prince and other members of the vigilante were ambushed as they were advancing to the reported scene of the kidnap.

The kidnappers reportedly opened fire on the vigilante members and gunned down the deceased.

The development was reported to have thrown the community into panic as residents scampered for safety while the corpse of the deceased has been evacuated and taken to the undisclosed mortuary.

Confirming the incident, the Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said an investigation is ongoing.

Unknown Gunmen Abduct Deputy Registrar In Lagos

Meanwhile, an ongoing leadership crisis at the Federal College of Education, Technical, Akoka, Lagos escalated early Thursday morning as unidentified gunmen abducted the Deputy Registrar, Chris Olamiju, from his official residence.

Olamiju, a key figure among the academic and non-academic staff protesting against the continued tenure of Provost Dr. Wahab Azeez, was forcibly taken from his staff quarters around 3 am. The intruders broke down his doors and dragged him away.

College sources said the gunmen forcibly entered Olamiju’s residence and abducted him. Some suspect that the assailants may be operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
