Nigeria’s track and field queen, Tobi Amusan on Wednesday raised the hopes of Team Nigeria winning a medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Amusan finished first in the women’s 100m hurdles heat which has now led to praises from different quarters.

Amusan, running on lane nine has thus qualified for the semi-finals of the event after winning her heat in a time of 12.49s.

Amusan who is the world record holder did not break much sweat to easily win the race as she was in blistering form.

Nigeria’s golden girl defeated USA’s Alaysha Johnson who finished second in 12.61s and Janeek Brown third in 12.84s.

A new Olympic movement designed to celebrate Nigeria’s past successes in Athletics, Making of Champions lauded Amusan after her latest feat.

“Lane 9? No Problem! Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 & Paris 2024 – Tobi Amusan has now qualified for three consecutive semifinals at the #Olympics, executing a clean race to safely get through to the next round,” MoC wrote on X.

“Tobi Express was smooth today, and she didn’t even hit top speed.”

As things stand, Amusan looks to be Nigeria’s surest bet to win a gold medal at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics.

That is following the disappointment Team Nigeria suffered with the likes of Favour Ofili and Blessing Oborodudu failing to win a medal in their respective events.
