Nigerian forward, Paul Onuachu has expressed his gratitude to the Southampton supporters after scoring his first goal for the club.

Paul Onuachu found the back of the net in the 3-2 loss to Nottingham Forest at City Ground on Sunday, contributing significantly to Jan Bednarek’s opening goal for Ivan Juric’s side.

“It feels great to score, but it’s disappointing that we couldn’t secure the win. However, I’m really pleased to have scored in front of our fans,” Onuachu told the club’s official website.

“The away fans have been fantastic, supporting us even when we are at the bottom of the table, and their encouragement played a big role in my scoring this goal. I owe them a lot for their unwavering support.”

Meanwhile, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim addressed goalkeeper Andre Onana’s recent performance during the team’s 3-1 defeat to Brighton on Sunday.

Onana was involved in a critical moment leading to the third goal conceded, where he struggled to handle Yasin Ayari’s low cross, allowing Georgino Rutter to capitalize and score.

While his teammates Diogo Dalot and Matthijs de Ligt fell to the ground in disappointment, Onana visibly faced the aftermath of the error, showing a deep commitment to improving.

“Similar to the team’s journey, there are going to be ups and downs,” Amorim remarked about Onana’s performance. “We need to focus consistently throughout each game. That focus is essential if we want to turn our performance around.”
