The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has approved the former Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, Wale Adedayo, to participate in the party’s primaries for chairmanship candidates, which will occur on Saturday.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Afolabi Orekoya, noted that numerous aspirants from the 236 Wards and 20 Local Governments in Ogun State have acquired the party’s nomination forms and have undergone screening to determine their eligibility for the upcoming Local Government Elections in November.

Among those screened at the Party Secretariat in Abeokuta was Chief Wale Adedayo, the former Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, who is seeking to reclaim the Chairmanship position in Ijebu East Local Government.

“The party has scheduled Thursday, 5th, and Saturday, 7th September as respective dates for the Councillorship and Chairmanship Primary Elections across the 236 Wards and 20 LGs.

“The members of the party should go out peacefully for the primaries in their various wards to elect the councillors and chairmanship candidates of their choice,” he said.

Recall that Adebayo, who transitioned from journalism to politics, served as the Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, having been elected under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

His tenure was cut short by impeachment in August 2023 following his accusations against Governor Dapo Abiodun regarding the misappropriation of ₦10.8 billion in local government funds.

The state government, in response, strongly refuted Adedayo’s claims, labelling them as unfounded.
