PDP National Ex-Officio Members Urge NEC Meeting To Avert Crisis

To stave off internal strife, national ex-officio members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have called for an urgent National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, stressing that it is crucial for the party’s stability.

The ex-officios expressed deep concern over the recent developments within the party’s leadership, warning that continued internal discord could undermine the party’s foundation.

In a press statement released yesterday, the members emphasised the importance of upholding the party’s constitution, which mandates the NEC to convene at least once every quarter.

They urged the party leadership to hold the scheduled NEC meeting on October 24, 2024, to address grievances and allow aggrieved members the opportunity to air their concerns.

“We have critically brainstormed and dispassionately resolved that it is urgent to ensure the NEC meeting holds.

This will provide the platform for members to voice their issues and for peace to be restored,” the statement read.

The members also praised the peace initiatives of the PDP Governors’ Forum, led by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, commending his leadership in efforts to resolve the party’s ongoing crisis.

They emphasised their support for the governors’ determination to return the PDP to its former glory and position it as a credible alternative to the ruling APC.

They called for the PDP to uphold the supremacy of its constitution, affirming that Nigerians still see the party as the best alternative to the current administration.

The statement was signed by several regional representatives, including Dr Yunana Ilya (North Central), Dr Nicholas Msheliza (North East), Chief Madu Chinemerem (South East), Chief Patrick Agbe (South-South), and Alhaji Ibrahim Alhaji (North West).
