The State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State has declared the establishment of a reconciliation committee to address and resolve the internal disputes within the party.

In a statement issued to the press in Jalingo, the state capital, on Tuesday, the party spokesperson, Andeta’rang Iremea, indicated that this initiative is part of the broader efforts to enhance party cohesion and tackle the issues that have led to divisions among its members.

The statement said: “The committee is expected to mediate and find solutions to conflicts within the party, ensuring that all concerns are addressed in preparation for future political activities.”

The committee, chaired by Senator Zik Ambuno Sunday, includes members Alhaji Abdulrazaq Musa, Magaji Joseph Tahwa, Abbas Kaura, Simon Dogari, and Tina Musa.

Additionally, the committee comprises Aminu Jika, Oliver Suleiman, Kabiru Jalo, John Mamman, Jonah J. Kataps, Azumi Adamu, Alhaji Mohammed Abana, and Julius Taro Bitako, with Lawal Abdulkarim serving as the secretary.

Since the last state congress, the party has experienced ongoing discord, primarily due to the alleged imposition of Lois Emmanuel, the former Commissioner of Information and Reorientation, as the party’s women leader.

This decision has reportedly caused significant rifts within the party, as noted by a party chieftain who requested anonymity when speaking to journalists.

“This has become necessary because we urgently want to put our house in order before the next general election which will by God’s grace take place in 2027, ” he told Daily Post.
