Manchester City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, has expressed concern about Erling Haaland’s ongoing struggle with an injury as the team continues to search for their first preseason victory in the United States.

With the new season looming, the Premier League champions are increasingly worried about the fitness of their star striker Erling Haaland, who was substituted at half-time in his last two pre-season games.

After Manchester City’s 2-2 draw with FC Barcelona, which ended 4-1 via penalties, Pep Guardiola told reporters that Haaland’s playing time in the ongoing preseason has been restricted due to an injury.

Guardiola said, “Erling is dealing with discomfort. We are being cautious and not willing to take any unnecessary risks.

“However, he will need to gradually increase his training and playing time soon, with the season just around the corner.”

The manager revealed that Haaland is troubled by muscular issues, and the team is keen to avoid any situation that could potentially sideline him for an extended period.

“We can’t afford to risk losing him for three weeks or even a month. That would undoubtedly pose a significant problem for us”, Guardiola added.

Note that Manchester City have lost their last three pre-season games – against Celtic, AC Milan, and FC Barcelona – in the United States.
