There was a mass gathering of Muslim faithfuls at the Katsina Arabic Teachers College Playground, along with three other public spaces in Katsina to seek divine assistance in addressing the ongoing economic difficulties, insecurity, and inadequate governance plaguing the nation.

Naija News learnt that the prayer session which saw participation from individuals of all genders and was conducted under strict security measures, was marked by the peaceful demeanor of the attendees.

The participants, according to Channels Television, implored Almighty Allah to alleviate the persistent economic struggles, hunger, insecurity, and poor governance, among other pressing issues confronting Nigeria under the incumbent administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Also, the residents called upon Almighty Allah to remove all individuals associated with the enduring challenges that prompted the protest, identifying primarily politicians, traditional leaders, business elites, security personnel, religious figures, and both affluent and impoverished members of society.

During the gathering, the residents engaged in the Al-Qunut Prayer, a specific supplication performed at a designated moment while standing.

Al-Qunut is particularly recommended during times of calamity affecting the Muslim community.

A similar prayer gathering took place earlier on Monday morning at the Filin Samji, Filin Yammawa, and Filin Canada football fields, Naija News understands.

“We came here to worship God and prayed for Him to wipe away our tears”, said one of the participants.

In Katsina State, the organizers of the #EndBadGovernance Protests had previously scheduled nationwide prayers for Saturday, August 10th, 2024, to take place in various mosques and churches, aimed at seeking divine intervention.

This announcement follows a violent protest that prompted the state government to enforce a curfew throughout the region.

However, on Tuesday morning, the Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Faruk Jobe, eased the 24-hour movement restriction that had been imposed on the Dutsinma Local Government Area and the other 33 Local Government Areas within the state.
