The former Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, paid a courtesy visit to his successor and incumbent Governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Naija News reports that this is Ambode’s first visit to the Lagos State House after exiting as a one-term governor of the state in 2019.

In a post via his Instagram page on Monday, Sanwo-Olu said he and Ambode had a conversation about the future of Lagos and building on the solid foundation currently in place.

Sharing photos of the visit, Sanwo-Olu wrote, “Today, I welcomed my brother and predecessor, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, back to Lagos House on a courtesy visit.

“Our conversation centred around the future of Lagos and building on the solid foundation already in place. I value his perspective as we all work together to ensure that Lagos remains on the path of growth and development.”

Sanwo-Olu Condemns #IgboMustGo Call In Lagos, Orders Probe

Meanwhile, Sanwo-Olu has condemned a post made by @Lagospedia on X (formerly Twitter) that called on the Igbo to vacate Lagos and the southwest.

The post by the user on July 27, 2024, asking Lagosians to brace for a massive #IgboMustGo protest from August 20 to 30, 2024, has since generated controversy on social media.

he media aide to Governor Sanwo-Olu, Gboyega Akosile, in a statement, noted that the governor and indeed, the Lagos State Government “wish to distance themselves from the reckless, divisive and dangerous rhetoric, saying Lagos remains home to every Nigerian citizen regardless of their ethnic nationality.”

According to him, Sanwo-Olu views the post as not only reckless and divisive but also an attempt to sow a seed of discord between the Yoruba in the South-West and other tribes, “especially those who have made Lagos their permanent place of abode.”
