In a remarkable display of courage and determination, a physically challenged man, has thwarted a car theft in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

The Guardian learnt that two young men attempted to steal a blue Toyota Corolla parked behind the High Court complex, but the physically challenged man bravely intervened and stopped their plans.

His heroism earned him widespread praise and admiration from passers-by.

According to a Port Harcourt-based lawyer, Nweke Victor Njoku, the man noticed the suspicious behaviour of the two young men, whose furtive movements and lurking presence aroused his attention, leading him to intervene.

Njoku revealed that the man showed remarkable bravery by blocking the two would-be thieves as they attempted to drive away in the car, having gained access to it.

“He quickly alerted the police, whose prompt response led to the arrest of the two suspects, preventing their getaway plan,” he said.

The legal practitioner stressed that the swift response of police officers from the Central Bank (CBN) branch in the area resulted in the successful arrest of the two suspects, who were subsequently handcuffed and taken into custody.

Njoku urged the police and government to acknowledge and reward the bravery of the man, a familiar figure around the Post Office bus stop and CBN-State Secretariat route, by providing him with support and succour.
