Police Arrest Crypto Trader BLord Over Alleged Internet Fraud, Terrorism Funding

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has arrested a cryptocurrency and bitcoin trader, Linus Williams, a.k.a. BLord, over allegations bordering on cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding, and non-compliance with regulatory frameworks issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Consequently, the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), which is also known as NPF-NCCC, is currently investigating complaints lodged against Blord Group, Blord Real Estate Ltd, Blord Jetpaye Limited, and Billpoint Technology, all owned by Williams.

This was disclosed in a press release by the NPF posted on its official Facebook page on Tuesday.

The press release dated July 16, 2024, and signed by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, was titled; “Alleged Fraud, Violation Of CBN Act, Police Interrogate CEO BLord Group Of Companies, Linus Williams”.

The post read: “The FCID (NPF-NCCC) is currently investigating complaints lodged against BLORD GROUP, BLORD REAL ESTATE LTD, BLORD JETPAYE LIMITED, and BILLPOINT TECHNOLOGY. These offences include allegations bothering on cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding, and non-compliance with regulatory frameworks.”

In promising to do a thorough investigation, the Police Force further wrote, “We will do due diligence in our investigations. Our cyber space in Nigeria must be safe and secured by all means. We are committed to achieving that.”
