The Gombe State Police Command has apprehended three suspected drug peddlers in the Hayin-Kwarin Misau area of Akko Local Government Area.
The suspects, identified as Mubarak Usman (21), Abubakar Suleiman (22), and Fahad Salihu (21), were allegedly involved in supplying drugs to hoodlums commonly referred to as “kalare boys” in the area.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, noting that the arrests followed a tip-off from a concerned resident.
Abdullahi said, “Acting on information from a good Samaritan about the activities of a group suspected to be a drug cartel collaborating with thugs known as ‘kalare boys,’ the police launched a well-coordinated raid on their hideout.”
During the operation, the police recovered several illicit substances, including Exol tablets, Lara tablets, Valium 5, Tramadol capsules, dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and two pairs of scissors.
“The suspects have confessed to the crime and will be charged in court soon,” Abdullahi added.
He commended the individual who provided the tip-off and urged residents to continue supporting the police in their efforts to eliminate criminal activities in the state.
The police reiterated their commitment to combating drug-related offences and ensuring the safety and security of residents across the state.
