Police arrest woman with 124 rounds of ammunition in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command, on Friday, said it arrested one Hauwa Sani for hiding 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition in a gallon of palm oil, alongside a two-year-old child in the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, revealed this in a statement posted on X on Saturday.

According to the statement, the suspect was arrested with a cash sum of N78,500 and a mobile phone while trying to smuggle the ammunition to Katsina State, where the suspect is reportedly from.

“On 23/8/2024 at about 1710hrs, based on credible information, police operatives attached to Keffi Division intercepted and arrested one Hauwa Sani ‘F’ alongside a 2-year-old child of Doro village, Katsina State,” the statement read.

“Consequently, one hundred and twenty-four (124) rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition concealed in a gallon of palm oil, one Tecno mobile phone, and a cash sum of seventy-eight thousand and five hundred Naira (#78,500) were recovered from the suspect as exhibits.

“Preliminary findings revealed that the suspect received a supply of the ammunition at Rafin Sanyi village in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State and concealed the items in a gallon of palm oil en route to Katsina State before nemesis caught up with her.”

The Commissioner of Police, Shehu Nadada, has ordered the transfer of the suspect and exhibits to the Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters in Abuja, for further investigation.
