Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested a woman with 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition concealed in a gallon of palm oil in Keffi, Keffi local government area of the state.
The woman, one Hauwa Sani, alongside a two-year old child were said to have hailed from Doro village in Katsina State.
A statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Rahman Nansel on Saturday in Lafia, said the woman received the ammunition from Doma local government area of Nasarawa State but she was arrested on her way back to Katsina.
“On 23/8/2024 at about 1710hrs, based on credible information, Police operatives attached to Keffi Division intercepted and got one Hauwa Sani ‘F’ alongside a 2 years old child of Doro village, Katsina state arrested.
“Consequently, one hundred and twenty-four (124) rounds of Anti Aircraft ammunition concealed in a gallon of palm oil, one Tecno mobile phone, and cash sum of Seventy-eight thousand and five hundred Naira (N78,500) were recovered from the suspect as exhibit.
“Preliminary findings revealed that the suspect received supply of the ammunition at Rafin Sanyi village of Doma local government area of Nasarawa State, and concealed the items in a gallon of palm oil en route Katsina State before nemesis caught up with her,” the statement explained.
It said the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Umar Shehu Nadada has ordered the transfer of the suspect and exhibit to Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja for further investigation.
The CP also commended the officers and men of the command for a Job well done.
