Delta State Police Command has confirmed the release of the kidnapped former commissioner for Technical Education, Joan Onyemachi Mrakpor.

Mrakpor, aka Ada Anioma, was reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen last Tuesday at about 4:30 pm inside the hall of King Jesus and I church located on Ogajifo street off Delta Broadcasting Service Road, Asaba.

The spokesperson for the Police, Mr. Bright Edafe who confirmed the release to The Guardian late Friday night, in Asaba, did not give details about the release

The Guardian, however, gathered that Police operatives were restless for 10 days after the former House of Assembly, and House of Representatives member was whisked away to an unknown destination.

The sources hinted that the Police probing the abduction of the Ubulu-Uku-born politician made a significant breakthrough in their investigations which resulted in her release, even though the job was most tasking.

Our correspondent gathered that three persons, including the owner of the vehicle, were arrested in connection with the abduction which claimed the lives of two Policemen and her driver.

The kidnappers of the former Director General, Asaba Development Agency, were said to have demanded N1bn Ramson from the family before she would be released. It is unclear whether or not any money was paid.
