Police deny viral post about Alkome hospital in Borno

The Borno State Police Command has refuted a viral post circulated on social media alleging the need for assistance at Police Hospital, Alkome, along Muna Garage.

The Supervising Police Public Relations Officer Northeast, Ahmed Wakil in a press release issued on Friday while refuting the post said, “The Police Hospital Alkome is providing shelter and support for approximately 300 displaced persons following a catastrophic flood that left them homeless.

“Basic necessities such as shelter, water, and medical services have been made available to these individuals.”

Wakil maintained that “On September 13th, 2024, at approximately 1233HRS, a rescue mission led by the Commissioner of Police Borno State Command, Lawal Yusufu, resulted in the retrieval of a pregnant woman, Fatima Dantalla, aged 21, from custom area in Maiduguri.

“Dantalla, who was about to deliver, had been left without medical assistance. The rescue team, promptly transported her to Alkome Police Clinic along with around 30 displaced persons. It is reported that Mrs. Dantalla successfully gave birth to a baby boy following the immediate medical attention.”

The statement added that “Borno State Police Command is steadfast in its commitment to upholding the safety and security of the people of Borno.

“We urge the public to remain vigilant against misleading information aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the police.”
