In response to the attack by unknown gunmen in Guto village, Bwari, on June 30, police operatives have rescued two kidnapped victims in the outskirts of the Federal Capital City (FCT), Abuja.

Confirming the incident, spokesperson for FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said two females, Mart Ojadi, 15, and Evelyn Chinaza, 12, were kidnapped and forcibly taken to an unknown location at about 1:30 p.m., on June 30.

According to her, operatives of the FCT Police Command from the anti-kidnapping unit swiftly mobilised to the scene.

Adeh said: “Displaying remarkable bravery, the police, in synergy with the Department of State Services (DSS) and hunters, trailed and advanced on the assailants, tactically ambushing them at Gauraka Forest, Niger State, at the border with the FCT.

“This led to an intense gun duel as the kidnappers were overwhelmed by the operatives, forcing them to scamper to safety through the nearby bushes with varying degrees of bullet injuries. Thus, the two kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt.

“While the victims have since been reunited with their family, the Commissioner of Police, FCT, Benneth Igweh, reaffirms the command’s unflinching commitment to maintaining peace and security in the nation’s capital. He also urged the residents to be vigilant.”

ALSO, Lagos State Police Command arrested 30-year-old Musa Ibrahim and Ibrahim Danjuma, 22, for robbing a woman at her shop in the Imude area of Ojo Local Council.

He said the suspects were apprehended with the help of community members, while a locally-made firearm was recovered.
