Police, Military neutralize armed robbers, arrest two suspects in Nasarawa

The Nigeria Police Force in Nasarawa State in collaboration with the military has neutralized a group of armed robbers in the state.

The operation, which took place on June 29, 2024, resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of various stolen items.

According to a press release by DSP Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer for the Nasarawa State Command, a distress call was received at approximately 0310hrs by the Divisional Police Officer in Karshi, reporting an ongoing armed robbery around the Karshi by-pass.

Nansel stated that Police operatives, in collaboration with the military, moved immediately to the scene of the robbery.

“Upon receipt of the information, Police operatives, in collaboration with the military, swiftly moved to the scene.

“On sighting security agents, the criminals opened fire on them and a gun duel ensued.

“Consequently, two of the criminals were fatally injured and rushed to the hospital, where they subsequently died while receiving treatment, and others escaped with bullet wounds.

“The general area was combed by the combined team where two suspects namely: Yusuf Lawal ‘M’ 27yrs a resident of Nyanya FCT and Hamza Abdullahi ‘M’ of Orange market, Mararaba whom both hail from Bauchi State were arrested in connection to the commission of the crime.” Nansel’s statement reads in part.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include 3 cartridges, 3 cutlasses, 19 handsets of different brands, 2 laptops, 9 pairs of shoes, A wristwatch, 1 MP3 player, 1 power bank, 3 torches, 3 bags, 2 ear pods, a smoother, sachets of milk and Milo, The sum of ₦2,600

Nansel further stated that the Commissioner of Police Umar Shehu Nadada commended the officers for their prompt and effective action and urged them to maintain their vigilance and dedication to duty.
