The Police in Niger State have arrested and paraded three suspects for alleged theft, receiving stolen property in Maje Suleja local government area and also recovered 35 cattle.
The suspects, Moh’d Moh’d, Usama Aminu and Ali Lawal, were caught by police operatives on November 1, 2024, after Moh’d Moh’d attempted to sell a stolen motorcycle.
Abiodun stated that Moh’d Moh’d transported the stolen motorcycle from Gulu, Lapai to Maje, where he had a buyer waiting.
“However, the police intervened, leading to the arrest of Aminu and Lawal. Aminu assisted in selling the motorcycle while Lawal, a motorcycle technician, purchased it for N190,000 and planned to resell it for N250,000,” Abiodun revealed.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SO Wasiu Abiodun stated that the stolen motorcycle was recovered by the police, and an investigation is ongoing at the Maje Division.
He further revealed that on November 10, 2024, at 10:30 am, Police authorities received reports of cattle roaming freely and damaging farms in Kuda/Gwaji villages, Ibbi area of Mashegu LG
He said the Police operatives in collaboration with local residents recovered 35 cows from the affected farms.
“The unclaimed cattle were kept and entrusted in the custody of the traditional body in the area pending the location of the owner(s)”.
