The Kaduna State Police Command said security operatives have rescued 23 kidnap victims during a joint operation led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kajuru Division.

It said Policemen and military personnel advanced into a bush near Doka Village in Kajuru Local Government Area (LGA) of the State, where they encountered a gang of armed bandits trying to relocate their captives to Kajuru Forest.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, in a statement released Sunday night, during the encounter, security forces unleashed superior firepower on the enemies forcing them to retreat and flee into the forest with gunshot wounds, a development that led to the rescue of 23 kidnap victims, who had earlier been reported kidnapped in Kauru LGA.

The victims have been safely reunited with their families, the Police spokesperson further disclosed.

Meanwhile, he noted that the area has been placed under heightened surveillance and aggressive patrols to prevent further criminal activities.

The State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, has assured the public that the Command remained committed to ensuring the safety and security of residents and will continue to work in line with the Ideals, vision and mission of Governor Uba Sani on security of the state and in collaboration with military and other security agencies to combat crime and maintain peace across the state.
