Police take action as angry man kills neighbour, reason, other details emerge

What really happened?

The man, Parlindungan Siregar, 45, attacked Asgim Irianto, 60, a retired civil servant, with a piece of wood around 8:00pm on July 29.

The victim was a retired civil servant named Asgim Irianto, said the region’s Assistant Police Commissioner (AKP) Maria Marpaung on July 31, according to Indonesian media outlet Detik Jogja.

The unfortunate incident took place in Tapanuli Selatan in northern Sumatra, Daily Independent reported.

Assistant police commissioner Maria Marpaung disclosed that on July 3, Mr. Irianto ran out after Siregar attacked him but fell down after he was hit on the head. Siregar continued hitting him until their neighbours intervened.

As reported by The Guardian, they took Mr Irianto to a local community health centre but he died on the way.

Police take action

Siregar was arrested shortly after and admitted to plotting his neighbour’s murder, Ms Marpaung said.

In another development, Legit.ng had earlier reported that an emotionally unstable man beat his wife to death at their matrimonial residence in the United Kingdom.

The Nigerian couple had relocated to a foreign country in 2022 before their relationship deteriorated.

The police have detained him, and he is due to receive a court sentence on May 9, where he is likely to be sentenced to life imprisonment.
