A Premier League player was questioned by police last week as a part of an ongoing investigation over multiple allegations of sexual offences.
The unnamed Premier League player, who is in his 30s, is currently under investigation for the alleged rapes of two women, as well as a separate sexual offence connected to a third woman.
The investigation began when police first arrested him at an address in West London in July 2022, following a report of rape.
Despite the ongoing investigation, the Premier League player has continued to participate in matches for his club. Last Thursday, he reported to a police station where he was interviewed under caution regarding the allegations against him.
According to Daily Mail, a spokesperson of the Metropolitan Police said, “Met officers are actively investigating a series of reports concerning alleged sexual offences that occurred between 2021 and 2023. A man in his 30s was initially arrested in July 2022, and he has subsequently been interviewed by police on two additional occasions while under caution.”
The Premier League player stands accused of multiple incidents, including the alleged rapes of two women. The police confirmed that the initial arrest followed a report of an alleged rape that took place in June 2022.
While in custody, he was further detained on suspicion of involvement in two additional rape incidents reported to have occurred in April and June 2021.
However, authorities have decided not to pursue further action concerning the incident from June 2021, as relevant legislation addressing the specifics of that case had not yet come into effect at the time it is alleged to have occurred.
In addition, the player was taken into custody again in February of the previous year, this time on suspicion of committing a sexual offence in West London in February 2022.
