The Presidency has advised communities across Nigeria to contribute to national development through collective efforts.

The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Community Engagement (North Central), Abiodun Essiet, made the call on Tuesday.

Essiet, who has been on community engagement tour across North Central states and communities to educate citizens of the region on policies and programmes of Tinubu‘s administration, as part of the Presidency’s engagement mandate, said every community has a role to play in developing the nation by investing in human capital of their community members.

She explained that such developments could come in the form of human capital, leadership skills training and volunteering. She added every Community has assets. She further called on citizens to join hands with their community to harness the assets of their communities.

On her X handle, Essiet wrote, “I believe no community has nothing that is why I use Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach in all my community development interventions.

“I always reach an agreement with the leadership of the community to contribute their own quota towards their development, it could be in the form of human capital, leadership skills, the presence of a community development association, a transparent accounting system, land, team spirit, volunteering spirit and many more.”
