Presidency, groups provide quality water in S’West, N’Central

The Presidential Community Office has facilitated access to quality water in the South-West and North-Central zones of the country through the Access to Water and Water Quality Project.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (Southwest), Moremi Ojudu, said on Thursday that the Presidency launched the project in collaboration with Nestlé, OPS-WASH, ActionAid, and the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria.

Ojudu said the Presidential Community Engagement Office’s joint initiative with the groups aimed to address water scarcity and contamination in communities, including Agbara, Adedigba, Ilashe, Odan, Ilupeju, Ilaniro, Korogboji, and Totowu.

She noted that the communities would benefit from solar-powered boreholes and advanced water treatment facilities to ensure access to clean, safe drinking water.

The Presidency is set to install state-of-the-art boreholes and water treatment facilities, according to the SSA to the President on Community Engagement.

“As we align our efforts with the goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda to enhance water access and improve water quality in the communities, I look forward to the positive impact this initiative will have on our communities,” she said.

Dr Nicholas Igwe from OPS-WASH hailed the collaboration, noting the critical role of government support in such initiatives.
