President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday presided over the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
The FEC meeting, presided over by President Tinubu, saw the attendance of nearly all its members, though notable absences were reported due to national duties abroad.
Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently representing Nigeria at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Apia, Samoa.
Other absentees included the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo; Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu; Minister of Environment, Professor Joseph Utsev; and the Minister for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
President Tinubu Reshuffles Cabinet
In a related development, President Tinubu carried the much-anticipated cabinet reshuffle.
The cabinet reshuffle was announced on Wednesday during the FEC meeting which took place at the Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja.
President Tinubu scrapped the Niger Delta Ministry as well as the Ministry of Sports Development.
He also merged the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.
The cabinet reshuffle is the first to be carried out by President Tinubu since he assumed power as Nigeria’s leader in May 2023.
