President Xi Jinping of China has sent an invitation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a visit in September 2024.

The Special Adviser Information and Strategy to the president, Bayo Onanuga disclosed this on Friday morning in a post on his X account.

“Chinese leader President Xi Jinping has invited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to pay a state visit to China in September,” Onanuga wrote.

“China’s vice minister of foreign affairs, Chen Xiaodong, delivered the invitation to President Tinubu at the Aso Villa on Thursday.”

Onanuga said Chen, who came with a large entourage, said President Xi would also welcome Nigeria’s First Lady Remi Tinubu during the visit.

He added that Tinubu has already accepted the invitation and hoped that it would strengthen Nigeria-China bilateral relations and the proposed currency swap agreement.
