The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, on Tuesday, condemned miscreants who hid under the guise of protest to attack Mosques and Churches, describing the act as shameful.

Musa who slammed those who vandalised the places of worship, reiterated that the military would not tolerate further acts of destruction by the hoodlums as it was done in Kano, Kaduna and other places.

While speaking in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service, on Tuesday, he said that the Nigerian military loves democracy and shall protect it.

The Defence Chief said, “Those hoisting flags of other countries in Nigeria were not doing the right. It’s wrong.”

Musa further stated, that they have been watching keenly how the police were battling with the situation and would not fold their arms and allow the situation to deteriorate.

Meanwhile, the Military and other security agencies in Nigeria have launched a search for those calling for a coup in the country and trying to force an undemocratic change of government.

This was disclosed Musa, during a joint press briefing by security chiefs on Tuesday, August 6, at the Defence Headquarters Abuja.

Musa said it is clear that those calling for a change of government are sponsored, hence the military is trailing and will arrest those sponsors.

He added that some sponsors of rioters flying foreign flags have been arrested, while their bank accounts have been frozen.
