Protest: Why Use This Reckless Language In Tensed Atmosphere? – Atiku’s Aide Blasts Akpabio

1 month ago 6

Prank Shaibu, an aide to the former vice president, Atiku Abubarkar, has slammed the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, over a remark on Thursday’s scheduled protest.

Naija News reported that Akpabio had mentioned that individuals who wish to engage in protests are free to do so.

The former Governor of Akwa Ibom State suggested that they should proceed while he and others would sit back and relax to enjoy their meal.

Akpabio made these remarks during a gathering organized by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in Rivers State.

The Senate President’s comment is coming amid preparation for a nationwide protest against the significant rise in inflation and Nigeria’s severe cost of living crisis scheduled to begin on Thursday, August 1.

Reacting via his X handle, Shaibu stated that it was reckless for Akpabio to make such a statement in an already tense atmosphere.

He noted that the security agents should invite the likes of Akpabio for questioning instead of the All Progressive Congress (APC) attacking the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi.

He wrote, “Is Akpabio perpetually in a state of bewilderment, or was yesterday just an extraordinary episode of his ongoing series, “Stupidity: The Special Edition”? Honestly, what kind of Senate President thinks it’s a good idea to use this kind of reckless language in an already tensed atmosphere? This is the kind of character the security agents should invite for questioning instead of the APC attacking @PeterObi #shame”
