Provost of Aminu Saleh College of Education (ASCOE), Prof Asabe Mohammed, has called on the Bauchi State government to support the college’s dual mandate initiative and establishment of a road network within the campus to enhance the quality of education in the state.

Prof Mohammed, who made the call while speaking with journalists in Bauchi yesterday, said that the dual mandate initiative aims to address the current dearth of trained teachers in various subjects.

The provost noted that the dual mandate initiative seeks to enable Colleges of Education to produce both NCE graduates and degree graduates (NCE-B.Ed) autonomously without affiliation to universities.
She emphasized the importance of producing high-quality teachers who can inspire, motivate and mentor students to achieve their full potential.

Mohammed also appealed to the state government to give preference to students who have studied NCE and wish to transit to the degree programme as such would produce the desired quality of teachers.

Prof Mohammed emphasized that the initiative is a game-changer for teacher education in Nigeria and will have a significant impact on the quality of education in Bauchi State.

She expressed concern over the poor road network within the college campus.

She highlighted the consequences of flooding, erosion and damage to facilities and infrastructure, and appealed to the state government, groups and individuals to support the college in providing a good road network that would create a conducive atmosphere for future leaders.
