PSG Insist On Not Paying Kylian Mbappe’s €55 Million Debt

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) remain resolute in their decision to withhold a substantial €55 million owed to Kylian Mbappé, even after the club suffered a setback in their legal struggle by losing an appeal.

According to a report from Goal released on Friday, the French league’s appeals commission ruled against PSG, compelling the club to fulfil the payment obligation.

Despite this ruling, PSG have indicated their intention to escalate the matter to a court setting.

In an interview with RMC Sport, a PSG spokesperson said, “Now that the appeals committee has confirmed the position of the legal committee, PSG has opted to bring the case before the appropriate courts while simultaneously seeking an amicable resolution with the player.”

The French giants claimed that they do not owe anything to their former star striker. They assert that Mbappé voluntarily waived the entitlement to the €55 million upon his agreement to rejoin the first-team squad during the previous season.

Nevertheless, now that Mbappé has moved to Real Madrid this summer, he is pursuing the total amount owed and has rebuffed any attempts at mediation offered by PSG.

In their statement, PSG emphasized, “The player has made clear and repeated commitments, both public and private, that the club expects him to honour and respect. This expectation is underscored by the unprecedented benefits he has enjoyed during his seven-year tenure in Paris.”

While PSG continue to express a desire to amicably settle the dispute, they are preparing for a potential legal confrontation. The spokesperson warned, “If the player, regrettably, chooses to further pursue this disagreement, the club will have no choice but to escalate the matter to the competent courts. We seek acknowledgement of the damages we have incurred and continue to face due to the perplexing stance taken by our former player. This situation touches on essential principles of good faith, honesty, and the necessity to respect the institution of Paris Saint-Germain along with its devoted supporters.”

As the legal wrangling is set to unfold, Kylian Mbappé is focused on his new chapter with Real Madrid, gearing up for the high-stakes El Clásico match against Barcelona this weekend.
