Real estate firm, Purple Group, has won two accolades at the 2024 Real Estate Discussions and Awards.
The 2024 REDA event was organised by Thinkmint Nigeria in Lagos, and brought together top stakeholders in the real estate industry, according to a statement.
The Chief Executive Officer of Purple Group, Laide Agboola, received the ‘Real Man of the Year Award’, which recognised his contributions to the real estate sector.
The firm also received the ‘Property Development Company of the Year (Commercial Category) award’ for its Purple Lekki project.
According to the statement, acknowledgement of the Purple Lekki Project followed its recent achievement of Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies’ Green Building Certification by the International Finance Corporation.
According to Agboola, the firm’s Lekki development project is set up to be environmentally sustainable, achieving 21 per cent energy savings, 43 per cent water savings, and 41 per cent materials savings.
Highlights of the REDA event included an address from the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Housing, Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, who reassured the award attendees of the state government’s commitment to advancing real estate development.
Odunuga-Bakare cited housing initiatives, including the Lagos Rent-to-Own Programme, Home Ownership Mortgage Schemes, the Lagos Blue Line Rail and tax incentives for zones, such as the Lekki Free Trade Zone, as part of Lagos State’s effort in real estate development.
Further, regulatory agencies, including the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority and Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, were featured at the 2024 REDA.
The Chairman of IbomAir and Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation, Imo-Abasi Jacob, highlighted the efforts of Akwa Ibom State in promoting housing and infrastructure development to make the state a destination for high-yield investments.
