Real Madrid’s team bus was involved in an accident on the motorway after the team’s defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday, November 27.
Real Madrid’s team bus reportedly crashed on the M40 motorway which linked London, Oxford, and Birmingham in England.
According to Daily Mail, video footage showcased the team’s stationary bus appearing to have been struck by a lorry. Fortunately, no players or staff were on board at the time, but the vehicles were transporting the team’s kit.
Typically, teams travel back home shortly after European matches. However, even if the players and staff had flown back to Spain, the coach would still need to be driven back to Madrid, and the M40 is the standard route taken from the northwest toward the coast.
Note that the improved luxury Real Madrid team bus was unveiled in October 2024, featuring high-tech branding that reflects the extensive renovations at the Bernabeu, which has seen a £1.5 billion investment.
This accident isn’t the first time the Real Madrid team bus has been involved in a crash; a similar occurrence took place in February. During their Champions League travel to RB Leipzig, the team had to take a lengthy bus journey due to airport strikes, leading to a collision with a white Toyota, as reported by German outlet Bild.
Recall that the Spanish club, which is facing challenges early in their Champions League campaign, lost 2-0 at Anfield on Wednesday night. Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo scored for Liverpool, while Kylian Mbappe’s missed penalty continues to raise questions.
In light of the team’s struggles, Jude Bellingham reflected on the situation, stating, “Kylian is a wonderful player, but the pressure is immense. The penalty isn’t the reason we lost the game. Kylian can hold his head high, and I am confident he will create many more impactful moments for this club.”
Carlo Ancelotti shared his thoughts on the match, noting, “We performed well in the first half, maintaining our structure and defending effectively. While we had promising transitions, we lost the ball at critical moments and made some unfortunate decisions on the attack.”
