Outgoing Principal Staff Officer (PSO), of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Mamman Salisu, has charged officers of the service to stay focused at all times, be dedicated to duty, and remain worthy ambassadors of the service to create enviable career paths.

He gave the charge during the 35-year meritorious service retirement ceremony held in his honour at the weekend in Abuja.

Salisu said that discipline, dedication to duty, loyalty, and being a good representative are key virtues every officer should strive to stand out from the crowd as proof of loyalty to their motherland, Nigeria.

According to him, “I have given in my best and I have tried to always leave a footprint and legacy of excellence in every path I have treaded. This will be my charge to those coming behind, as all hands must be on deck to provide initiatives that will bring the Service up to speed with its global contemporaries

“With the virtues of hard-work, dedication, loyalty, integrity, fairness and personal development, almost everything is achievable. We must remain focused and keep working our way through to the top.”

The outgoing PSO noted that it has been a great privilege for him to serve Nigeria by flying the honorable colours of the NCoS, “therefore, in gratitude I remain a worthy ambassador of the Service any day, any time. Subsequently, I will be willing to do anything within my means in support of the Service, if required to do so”.

He said “While the PSO will be missed, his contributions to the Service are always there to all to see and remember him by.

Nababa also said the doors of the agency are always open for expert advice from the exiting serviceman as his wealth of experience is always valuable.

While pointing out that the outgoing PSO is a mentor to many, national spokesman of the Service, Abubakar Umar, said Salisu is “An embodiment of discipline, loyalty, hard work and genuine commitment to duty.”
