The University of Port Harcourt has denied reports in a section of the media that recruitment is currently occurring in the institution.

The university, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Monday by its spokesman, Dr Sam Kpenu, was reacting to reports circulating on social media alleging that the institution is recruiting teaching and non-teaching staff.

Kpenu clarified that no such recruitment advertisement has been issued by the university, describing the report as misleading and as the handiwork of fraudulent individuals.

The statement reads, “The attention of the management of the University of Port Harcourt has been drawn to a publication making the rounds on social media suggesting that the university is recruiting staff.

“We want to unequivocally state that these claims are false. Members of the public are therefore enjoined to distance themselves from such misleading publications, which are likely the work of fraudulent individuals targeting unsuspecting members of the public.”

The UNIPORT image maker further said in the event of any recruitment, the institution’s management advertises through appropriate media channels, including its official website, rather than social media.

“The University of Port Harcourt will officially announce any recruitment opportunities through mainstream media channels and on its official website, www.uniport.edu.ng, should there be a need for employment in the future, ” the statement added.
