- Jake Paul beat former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in a sanctioned match in Texas on November 15
- The eight-round fight was far from a proper contest, with the 58-year-old Tyson looking slow and sluggish
- Despite the comments of the fight not living up to the expectations, the two boxers will get a handsome paycheck
Jake Paul beat Mike Tyson by a unanimous decision in a much-publicised fight at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Friday evening.
The social media influencer was declared the winner against the former heavyweight champion with judges' scores of 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73.
It was a drab and dour contest for the better part of the eight rounds, with Tyson, who hasn't competed professionally for 19 years, looking like a shadow of his former self.
How much Jake Paul and Mike Tyson earned
The dull contest elicited sharp reactions from the 70,000 fans in Texas and the millions following live, but the two boxers, irrespective of the end result, are in line for a massive payday.
Neither the fight organisers nor Netflix announced the official prize money for the event, but USA Today estimates that Tyson earned around 20 million USD (2.5 billion) for his appearance. Paul, meanwhile, had earlier said that he would earn up to 40 million USD (5 billion) from the fight.
