Rio Ferdinand Unhappy With Decision Of Man United’s New Coach, Ruben Amorim

Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand was not impressed with the decision of the club’s new manager, Ruben Amorim, to sack the side’s former interim manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Rio Ferdinand suggested that maintaining Van Nistelrooy’s presence at the club could have added value during this transitional phase.

Note that coach Amorim officially took charge at Old Trafford on Monday, having been appointed as Erik ten Hag’s permanent successor a few weeks prior. The Portuguese manager arrives from Sporting Lisbon accompanied by his trusted coaching team.

Ferdinand acknowledged that while Van Nistelrooy’s continued role might have posed challenges, his connection with the current squad could have been beneficial.

“We’ve been waiting for a manager to build rapport with the players, and we have one now. It raises the question of why you would let someone like Ruud go,” Ferdinand shared on Rio Reacts.

The former England international added, “The fundamental factor will be Amorim’s approach. He needs the confidence to assess whether Ruud adds value to his vision or could potentially be a distraction.”

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s new manager Ruben Amorim is poised to consider the loan of Joshua Zirkzee to another club during the January transfer window.

After joining Manchester United six months ago for £36.5 million, Zirkzee has made just four Premier League starts this season and scored only once, on the opening day against Fulham.

With Juventus reportedly interested, reports in England claimed that United are open to loan offers for Zirkzee as they aim to give him more playing time to enhance his development.
