Rivers: Lawmakers To Screen 161 As LG Caretaker C’ttee Chairmen, Members

The Rt. Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo-led Rivers State House of Assembly loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, will this Wednesday, screen 161 persons to serve as chairmen and members of caretaker committees for the 23 local government areas of the state.

An invitation letter extended to the nominated candidates, which was signed by the Clerk of the House, Goodnews Gillis-West, advised the nominees to come along with 12 sets of their curriculum vitae and the original copies and photocopies of their credentials.

The letter said the screening will hold by 8:00am at the auditorium of the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt.

The invite reads in part: “The Rivers State House of Assembly invites the Following Persons for SCREENING and CONFIRMATION as CHAIRMEN and CARETAKER Committees of the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State..

“DATE: Wednesday, 19 June, 2024, TIME: 8am Prompt, VENUE: Hallowed Chambers, Rivers State House of Assembly Auditorium, Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt..

“Note: The nominees are to come along with 12 (twelve) sets of their curriculum vitae and the originals and photocopies of their credentials.”

LEADERSHIP reports that crisis erupted in some parts of the State on Tuesday following the expiration of tenure of the elected local government chairmen and councillors on June 17, a development that led to the death of a Policeman and a member of a vigilante group in Omuma local government area secretariat following alleged attempts by the former local government bosses to remain in office.
