Rivers new LG caretaker chairman appoint 600 aides

The newly appointed caretaker chairperson of Ikwerre Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers State, Darlington Orji, has reportedly appointed 600 individuals as Special Assistants (SAs), Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Executive Assistants (EAs).

Orji was among the 23 Local Government Council Caretaker Committee Chairmen appointed by the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Shortly after he was appointed, he lamented that he had been unable to assume office since his inauguration, stating that the police prevented him from entering the local government secretariat.

“I got to the Ikwerre local government council and saw that it is being barricaded by the security agents—the police to be very precise. And I asked a question, and they said they were acting on the orders of the Inspector General of Police. So that is the situation,” Orji said on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

However, a circular circulating on social media, shows that Orji had reportedly appointed 600 people as his Special assistants (SAs), Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), and Executive Assistants (EAs).
