Popular singer Michael Olayinka, aka Ruger, has taken to social media to brag about his talent and personality. In an X post on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, he confidently declared, “Let me explain to you why I get booked so much. I don’t come on stage to sing (which I know I’m so good at); I bring my whole fucking personality on stage. I am even bigger than I thought.”
Fresh off his successful Canada tour, which wrapped up on November 3, 2024, Ruger also expressed his discontent with the current state of the music industry.
He lamented the prevalence of autotune and how some artists rely heavily on public relations to trend, often at the expense of quality music.
“The music scene has been hurting me because no matter how bad an artist is, once there’s money for hype, Otilo,” Ruger said.
He made headlines earlier this week after an unexpected incident during one of his performances. Known for inviting female fans on stage for intimate serenades, he was taken aback when a fan used her moment in the spotlight to profess her love for her boyfriend. Dressed in a stylish crop top, the young woman surprised Ruger when he asked about her relationship status. She boldly declared, “Shout-out to my man, Dean, I love you,” before handing the microphone back to him for a shout-out.
In a humorous twist, Ruger playfully sang her off the stage, repeatedly singing “Get off,” after which he went on to request another female fan on stage. The young lady, however, didn’t seem bothered as she also danced her way off the stage.
