Rwanda Coach Is Banking On Home Advantage Against Super Eagles

The Rwanda national team, known as Amuvabi, is confident that playing at home will give them an advantage over the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Group D clash at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.

Rwanda’s head coach, Frank Torsten Spittler, emphasized this belief following their 1-1 draw against Libya at the 11 June Stadium in Tripoli.

Rwanda’s resilience and determination were evident in their match against Libya, as they fought back to secure a draw after falling behind early in the game. Innocent Nshuti’s goal in the 47th minute canceled out Libya’s opener, showcasing the team’s competitive spirit and potential.

Reflecting on their performance against Libya, Coach Spittler said the upcoming match against the Super Eagles would be challenging. However, he expressed optimism about leveraging the home advantage to secure a positive result, especially after Nigeria’s convincing 3-0 victory over Benin Republic.

“We know our next game against Nigeria won’t be easy, but we hope to make the best of our home advantage. Now every point counts and this draw with Libya brings us more confidence,” the coach said, according to the Rwandan outlet The New Times.

Coach Spittler stressed that every point in the qualifiers is important as he acknowledged the tough task of facing Nigeria and expressed his intent to make the most of playing on home soil.

The coach also addressed the team’s scoring challenges, expressing a desire to improve their goal-scoring record and alleviate pressure during matches. Despite acknowledging areas for improvement, Spittler indicated that the team is progressing in the right direction.

“We always score one goal, and it brings us pressure throughout the 90 minutes. Our team is, however, taking shape, and we can get better,” the coach said.

Note that the Rwanda Vs the Super Eagles of Nigeria clash will kick off at 2 p.m. Nigerian time on Tuesday afternoon, September 10.
