Samoa Agreement Is Useless To Nigerians – Rep Ikwechegh

Federal House of Representatives member for Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency, Abia State, Alex Ikwechegh, has said the Samao Agreement is useless to Nigerians.

Ikwechegh said insecurity, hunger and injustice are problems confronting Nigerians that need urgent attention. He said this on Tuesday, at the Green Chamber, while speaking on the Samoa Agreement.

The $150 billion agreement was also condemned by the Kaduna State Council of Imams and Ulama.

The reported clause of the agreement said to demand that the federal government give the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community right to express their choice has been the subject of controversy.

On Wednesday, at the Federal Executive Council meeting, Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu, reiterated that the government was not under obligation to implement the LGBTQ clause.

However, Ikwechegh said, “This Samao agreement has certain clauses that happen to be in variance with our way of life. We are Africans we are not Westerners. we have our laws. we have our way of life. we have our ways of doing things.

“This particular human rights clause happens to be reprehensible and abominable. We cannot continue to engage in contrived way of governance.

“Let us focus on issues that matter. Our people are hungry. Our people are starving, there is insecurity, there is no light, injustice is now growing. Why are we here talking about LTBGQ? Let us concentrate in the issue that matters. Let us step it down, let us close it.

“As far as I am concerned, our people are not concerned in this. It is useless to Nigerians,” Ikwechegh said.
