Schoolchildren Survive Ghastly Accident In Kogi

In a fortunate turn of events, eight schoolchildren survived a severe accident in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State.

Witnesses reported that the children attend Kingdom Heritage Nursery and Primary School in Lokoja. The incident occurred on Thursday as the children were returning home from school and took place near the bustling Lokongoma market.

Naija News gathered that the accident happened when a heavy-duty truck, loaded with a container, overturned and landed on two smaller vehicles, trapping the children inside.

Thanks to the swift response of the Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and other relevant agencies, the children were successfully rescued from the wreckage.

Kogi State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omodara (Rtd.) was present at the scene to oversee the rescue efforts and confirmed the successful rescue of the children to Daily Post correspondent on Thursday.

Similarly, on Tuesday evening, a tragic accident occurred in Benin City, Edo State, when a 12-year-old girl, Toyosi Ademola, was struck by a truck near Uselu Market along Uselu Lagos Road.

The incident happened around 6:00 p.m. as Toyosi, a Primary 5 student at Oba Ewuare Primary School, stood by the pavement after crossing the road from the market.

Eyewitnesses reported that the truck experienced mechanical failure. In an attempt to regain control, the driver veered off the road, hitting the pavement and fatally injuring Toyosi.

Security personnel quickly arrived at the scene to prevent any potential damage to the vehicle by angry residents and motorists.
