Senator Donates Computers To Schools, Harps On ICT Education

Senator Diket Plang, chairman of the Senate Committee on Labour, Employment, and Productivity, has stressed the importance of qualitative education based on information and communication technology (ICT).

Senator Plang who is also vice chairman, Committee on Federal Character, stated this while donating a set of computers to selected secondary schools in the Plateau Central senatorial district of Plateau State at the weekend.

He stated that one of the purposes of the donations was to encourage and stimulate the interest of both the students and teachers in the senatorial district in the use of computers to acquire knowledge and other administrative procedures that involve the day-to-day running of schools.

The senator, who was represented by his senior legislative assistant, Evangelist Bitrus Dasar, charged the schools to use the computer gadgets effectively to promote learning.

“This donation is a demonstration of Senator Diket Plang’s passion for education.
This is not the end of this gesture; other schools within this senatorial district will equally benefit as time goes on. He is equally embarking on the fencing of not less than eight secondary schools in this zone,” he said.

In his address, the state commissioner for education, represented by the director, Quality Control in the ministry, Mr. Sebastin John, thanked Senator Plang for the donation, adding that the gesture will definitely go a long way in uplifting the standard of education in the senatorial district.
Representatives of beneficiary schools also appreciated the senator for the gesture.
