The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has said that a road crash in Ogere area of Ogun State claimed the lives of seven persons.
The crash which occurred at about 9:33 pm on Monday involved 18 persons.
Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun sector command, Florence Okpe, said the accident involved a truck with no registration number and a Mazda bus registered as MNY894YN.
Okpe blamed the accident on excessive speed on the part of the Mazda bus driver who rammed on a moving truck from the rear.
She said “A total of 18 persons were involved which comprised 15 male adult and 3 female adult. 11 people were injured 9 male adults and 2 female adults while 7 Persons were recorded dead from the crash, five male and two female.”
She noted that the injured victims were taken to Patmag Hospital Ogere for medical attention, while the corpses were deposited at FOS morgue Ipara.
The Sector Commander, Anthony Uga however, advised drivers to stick to reasonable speed limits particularly at night and in the rain.
He expressed his condolences to the crash victims’ families and cautioned passengers to constantly be vigilant in order to correct drivers’ errors.
