Sevilla FC’s manager, Garcia Pimienta, has showered praises on Super Eagles star, Kelechi Iheanacho following the forward’s impressive performance that marked the end of his goal drought.
Kelechi Iheanacho, who has faced challenges since he arrived at the club on a free transfer during the summer transfer window, found his scoring form in a dominant 3-0 victory against La Rozas FC in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday night, October 30.
This match was particularly significant as it represented Iheanacho’s first two goals for Sevilla, highlighting a turning point in his early season struggles.
After the match, Pimienta specifically commended the Nigerian international, acknowledging his contributions to the team’s success.
“He played very little in the first half, but in the second half, he demonstrated the effectiveness that is essential for forwards,” Pimienta stated, as reported on the club’s official website.
The coach also mentioned, “He’s been training diligently and played the full 90 minutes; we are thrilled with his double, and we are optimistic about his continued improvement.”
Meanwhile, Kelechi Iheanacho shared his happiness at finally opening his goal account for Sevilla, stating that scoring was a significant boost for both his confidence and the collective morale of the team.
“It feels very good; I’m ecstatic to have netted my first goals for this club. It’s a great confidence builder for me and the team, which I hope can aspire to finish in the top six,” he said during an interview with Sevillista.
