Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has berated admirers of Burkina Faso junta leader Ibrahim Traore for fraudulently using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to promote his achievements.
Speaking via his X handle on Sunday morning, Shehu Sani described Traore as a president who is following in the footsteps of the late revolutionary Marxist leader Thomas Sankara’s style of governance. He, however, condemned the use of AI to exaggerate his success story since coming to power.
“Ibrahim Traore is not Thomas Sankara. He is, however, following the footsteps of the late revolutionary Marxist leader in trying to rebuild his country.
“The use of AI to fraudulently promote or exaggerate his actions or achievements is needless. Whether this is done by his admirers or foes, it’s totally wrong and misleading,” he said.
The Burkina Faso military junta’s popularity has been fueled through social media, including many misleading posts intended to bolster his revolutionary image.
The charismatic 37-year-old military ruler of Burkina Faso has skillfully crafted his image as a pan-Africanist leader, dedicated to liberating his nation from what he perceives as the grips of Western imperialism and neo-colonialism.
Despite the claims, AI-generated videos featuring music stars like R. Kelly, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and Beyoncé are said to be immortalising him through song, though they have not actually done so.
His influence has reached a global audience, fueled by his compelling rhetoric and a polished social media campaign.
