Shuaibu Needs Psycho-Social Care – Police

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced that Yushau Shuaibu needs psycho-social care.

On July 8, Monday, Yushua Shuaibu climbed a broadcast mast in Abuja, in protest of hunger and hardship. Through the persuasion of first responders and some security agencies, Shuaibu climbed down from the mast.

On July 9, FCT police command through the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed that Shuaibu would be charged to court for disturbance of public peace.

Adeh said he would be taken to FCT Social Development Secretariat (SDS), for mental evaluation, and, if found mentally stable would be charged to court.

We have sent Shuaibu Yushau, the man who climbed a broadcast mast yesterday (Monday) to the Social Development Secretariat for mental evaluation.

“If found mentally stable after the test, he will be charged to court for attempted suicide, disturbance of public peace and incitement,” Adeh wrote on her X handle.

In a statement, on Friday, on her X handle, SP Adeh said Shuaibu was released to his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.

She said the report from the SDS showed Shuaibu needed psycho-social care. She added that the SDS report showed he has symptoms of anxiety, persistent worry and fears.

“On Thursday, July 18, 2024, the FCT police command released Alhaji Yushau Shuaibu on bail to his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.

“Shuaibu who was arrested for climbing the Aso Radio mast. He was referred to the FCTA SDS for a mental assessment, which found him mentally stable.

“However, symptoms of anxiety, persistent worry, and fears were noted during his profiling. The SDS recommended that he receive further psycho-social care and support, which contributed to the decision to release him on bail,” she said.
