The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, has assured that the present administration is committed to build up the capacity of the youths to realise their full potentials, saying that any society that fails to build up its youth is doomed.

The SGF stated this when a 15-man delegation of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) led by its President, Comrade Lucky Emonefe paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.

Akume, in a statement by the Director, Media in his office, Segun Imohiosen, said it is part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu to bridge management vacuum by grooming youths for leadership positions in order to contribute their quota to the economic development of the country.

Having thanked the youth for supporting the Tinubu-led administration, Sen. Akume charged them to be role models as their younger ones look up to them for inspiration.

In his words, “You want to be like me, those behind you will also want to be like you. You’ve been to school and you are doing well, they want to do the same thing and you become their role models”.

Speaking earlier, the NANS President, Comrade Lucky Emonefe thanked President Tinubu for signing the amended Students Loans Bill into law which he said will assuage the plight of Nigerian Students.

He also sought for more welfare packages for the Nigerian students.

Emonefe who acknowledged that the nation is passing through trying times, urged Nigerians to be patient with the administration and shun any act that is capable of destroying lives and property, pleading that the administration should be given more time to implement the Renewed Hope Agenda for the prosperity of all Nigerians.

Speaking also during the visit, President of the All African Students Union (AASU), Comrade Osisiogu Enyinnaya showered encomiums on the SGF for his passionate support to Nigerian Students at the continental level.

He attributed such support to his immense success story as President of AASU alongside the one-time President of West African Students’ Union (WASU), Comrade Romans Pillah, among other Nigerian Students.

Enyinnaya thanked Tinubu for giving top priority to the welfare of Nigerian Students through his policies and assured that AASU is willing to align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration.
