The leadership of the union described Iwuanyanwu as a philanthropist, soccer enthusiast, politician, elder statesman of high repute, and a renowned businessman, who served his people, the government and people of Imo State, and Nigeria as a whole, with commitment towards nation-building and development.
“These he did with great passion and credibility until his demise. Chief Iwuanyanwu has left indelible marks in the sands of time and a great vacuum hard to be filled. Surely, he will be missed, but the great legacies worthy of emulation he left behind shall continue to remind us of his days with us.
“SOKAPU as a Union expresses its heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the government and people of Imo State, and Ndi Igbo in the diaspora. May God grant them all the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, and may his soul rest in peace. Amen!” the statement added.
